Appearance
Located in the 105◦F | 40.5◦C desert far south of Blackstaff and only accessable with ease by teleporter, Desert Temple #031 is a massive complex of rooms meant to confuse invaders. Many of the corridors are lined with traps, though not all will yield rewards.
➥Obstacle 1:
Trip wires lace one hallway, triggering a series of concentrated spider-poison darts along the corridor. Effects range from memory difficulties, hallucinations, to extreme nausea and dizziness. It's imperative that anyone struck with a dart receive a guide's spider anti-venom before the effects of the poison can do lasting damage (about fifteen minutes after exposure).
It is possible to disable the trip wires by destroying the mechanisms behind the wall, which requires heavy equipment and is advised against by the museum. The trip wires can be dodged by someone especially agile, or the holes of the machines that fire the darts can be blocked or plugged.
Chest contents are flesh samples (not particularly well preserved), bread (not well preserved), and a saddle for a Quadratus steed.
➥Obstacle 2:
Chest number two is locked, and made of an extremely sturdy material and requires a particularly shaped key. To get to this key, a sliding image puzzle on the wall needs to be solved. When completed, it will show a full mural on the stone (though faded with time).
Once it's finished, the panel the puzzle is on will slide to the side and reveal a small chest with the key. The key will open the larger one.
This is the chest that contains diamond armor. Other related chest contents will be announced when the obstacle is bypassed.
➥Obstacle 3:
On a lower level of the temple, there is a door that leads to a pitch black room. Orion invaders have already tried to get at the chest inside, triggered explosive traps, and caused a massive cave in, and revealed what appears to be a deep crevice beneath the building. The span of it is too far for most humans to jump across, and the chest itself is covered with stone debris from the cave in.
Equipment will be required to open this chest. Related chest contents will be announced when the obstacle is bypassed.
